Project Summary: The project below was done for my mother-in-law as payment for child care. Although I don't have any "before" photos, this was simply a grassy slope leading up to a bulkhead for basement entrance. She was looking for a simple walkway for easier access, and the installation of some planting beds to eliminate maintenance of the grass. Like we try to do for all customers, we exceeded her expectation by creating stepped or tiered walks to the main entry and the bulkhead. We reused pieces of granite for the steps, which were reclaimed from the basement of an old house. Not only did we create the desired walkway, but the landing at the main entry proved to be large enough as a sitting area for my in-laws and a few friends. We lined the walkway with new sedum, shasta daisy, and stella dora daylillies. We also transplanted several rubekia black-eyed Susan on the right hand side of the walk. In the planting bed to the left, we installed low growing rhododendron, Blue Marlin Hibiscus, wiegla, and lilacs -- which are one of my mother-in-law's favorites. As a final touch, we installed her mums on the edge of the landscape to add seasonal color!
