Project Summary: This is another Allan Block retaining wall installed along the same shore as the walls in the Retaining Wall 1 link. The existing retaining wall, comprised of highway guardrail, was failing badly, allowing water to work behind the wall and undermine the soil. Additionally, the area to the right (facing the wall from the water) was a steep slope that did not allow safe access to the water. Incorporation of a large staircase now allows a safe and comfortable path to the water, while also rendering the land behind the wall usable.

Nearly a year after the original wall installation, we were asked to return and hardscape the area behind the wall. Two grand steps raised the grade even further, slowing run-off that was a constant battle. The circlular patio provides a small area to watch children in the water and transitions smoothly to the grand staircase in the wall. In the spring of 2006, we expect to complete the landscape by installing lawn and plantings.
